The inspiration for Surrounded came from the owner, a doctor who wanted to create a space that could serve as both a personal getaway and a venue for hosting important guests. The design team worked closely with the owner to bring his vision to life, resulting in a building that resembles a hall and offers a serene country-like atmosphere.
One of the standout features of Surrounded is the transformation of the mountains into a stunning TV wall on the first floor. This unique design element not only showcases the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape but also creates a dynamic visual experience for guests. As they ascend to different floors, the design style changes, mirroring the views that mountaineers encounter while climbing to the peak. This intentional variation in design creates different moods and atmospheres throughout the space.
The realization of Surrounded involved the use of various materials, including wood leather boards, marble, iron pieces, specialty coatings, titanium plating, rattan weaving, weave wallpaper, antique mirrors, tiles, diatomaceous earth, and southern pine. These materials were carefully selected to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.
With a total area of 245 square meters, Surrounded offers a spacious and inviting environment for guests. The design team paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of the space contributes to the overall ambiance and comfort.
Surrounded was a challenging project that required the design team to find innovative solutions to meet the owner's desire for integration with the environment and multifunctionality. Through extensive discussions and collaboration, the team was able to create a space that fulfilled the owner's requirements and exceeded expectations.
"To see a thousand miles, to climb higher," as famously said by Wang Zhizhi, a Chinese poet from the Tang Dynasty, perfectly encapsulates the essence of Surrounded. The design aims to provide guests with a unique experience of the Yilan mountains, where they must climb to different heights to fully appreciate the beauty that surrounds them.
The Surrounded project, designed by JunFu Interior Design, was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 for its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness. This prestigious recognition highlights the project's incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, ultimately contributing to an enhanced quality of life.
